About Art
The Hays family and real estate have been synonymous with one another for over 100 years. A.D. Hays (Art’s great-grandfather) started A.D. Hays Company, Inc. in 1917 as a land development and land management company in Minneapolis, MN. Since its founding, A.D. Hays Company has helped both residential and commercial developers execute their plans for community housing developments and commercial office/retail space on both a local and national scale.
As a fourth-generation real estate advisor, Art focuses exclusively on residential real estate not only in the Twin Cities but internationally as well. Through the power of the Sotheby’s global network, Art has helped clients buy and sell in Minnesota, across the United States and internationally! His ability to help clients with their real estate needs spans over 1,000 offices globally, delivering the largest and most experienced network in the world.
Having sold every type of residential property, throughout Minnesota, and in all price points, Art has a keen understanding of not only the subtle nuances of each specific type of transaction, but an ability to cut through the clutter and get to what’s most important to his clients. While the process of buying and selling continues to evolve, the principles of delivering exceptional results don’t. Integrity, hard work, and an unrelenting drive to exceed his clients’ expectations has been, and will continue to be, at the center of Art’s real estate business.
When he’s taking a break from helping clients realize their real estate dreams, Art enjoys spending time with his family (wife, four kids and two dogs) and traveling. Chelsey Sondeland has seen many changes in the industry since she started in real estate in 2002. Sellers’ markets, buyers’ markets, recessions, and booms – all housing markets have provided her with invaluable experience, a keen ability to pivot and adapt, and a commitment to provide her clients with top-notch support and service, and an unmatched passion for their real estate needs.
Chelsey plays an integral part in making the Art Hays Team the success it is. “I have been able to surround myself and work with some of the most professional and highest producing agents throughout my career, and it has pushed me to continue to work at the highest level myself,” she says.

As a lifelong Minnesota resident, Chelsey is familiar with the distinctive attributes of our many metro area communities and what makes each a great place to call home. When she’s not working, you can find her playing volleyball at Lord Fletcher’s, exploring the area’s best parks with her husband, Drew, and their three boys, or spending time with friends.

Connor’s deep understanding of digital media has been honed over the last 10 years and is critical in the age of media usage for residential real estate. Connor and Art connected when Art joined Lakes Sotheby’s in 2017 and since then, Connor has been responsible for creating, evolving, and executing the digital marketing and media strategy behind Art's brand.
Connor manages Art's social media platforms, including Instagram and Facebook, along with identifying opportunities to let Art’s personality show (like the fan-favorite Hays Take On series) and executing the vision along with other posts and features related to Art’s real estate business. He maintains Art's Website and blogs, and manages his overall digital presence. Connor is also the man behind the camera when it comes to filming and editing.
His videos work to support and share a digital view of Art’s portfolio of homes - including virtual tours, home highlights, and drone shots for each featured listing. Over the years, Connor has helped Art bring his brand (and his listings!) to life online throughout the development of a robust digital strategy and presence. From interiors to exteriors, to aerial views and basement bars, Connor makes sure every listing is represented at its best online.
