Hays Take On: Dampfwerk Distillery

A brand new distillery in St. Louis Park introduces the Twin Cities to German style spirit making.

Atmosphere

Dampfwerk nails the vision of a cocktail lounge, with a very modern and sleek look complemented by cozy seating options. Big couches near the front and adjacent to the fireplace wall provide an intimate hangout spot to enjoy drinks. The bar is large and clean, providing plenty of interactibility with bar tenders or your fellow drinkers. The main seating area has plenty of tables that allow groups of all sizes to be accomodated.

What We Had

The drink selection had plenty of options, from more flavorful and fun to spirit forward to flights of their liquor. Their Old Fashioned uses their barreled apple brandy with smoked maple and bitters which creates a super dry version of an old classic that packs a punch and the Corrado, which is light and delicious with strong tastes of lavender and hibiscus over their aquavit, was a treat for those who don’t enjoy a spirit forward beverage.
